T.L.C

Talk about the 90's. The Greatest. Its this trio. Words can't express their domination in the 90's. They revolutionized R&B and added a hip hop element that no one can ever touch. Instead of me taking the time out to add words to each song, I'll just let their hits do the talking.

Part III: SWV

The Down Ass Chick. Your Ride Or Die. These are terms that describe this group. They can do no wrong. Anything that comes out of their mouths are gold. Like described in the En Vogue post, if this was Jay-Z's Girls Girls Girls... They would be the "project chick that plays a part, and if it goes down ya'll that's my heart."
Here's a quick tribute to Sisters With Voices.

Rain
Very sweet song. Its pretty simple. Nice use of a double meaning.

You're Always On My Mind
Was there a 90's video without Flex Alexander in it? Coco busts out the goods here.

Use Your Heart
Its a nice little message. Solid underrated 90's track

Can We?
This collabo with Missy Elliott occurred later in their career. Nice little changeup from their usual slower beats. To answer the question... Yes I can get kinky tonight.

You're The One
Probably my 3rd favorite SWV song behind the two I'll be posting next. I remember listening to this song over and over in the 90's. There was like a 3 week period where I played this song repeatedly.

Anything
From the Above The Rim soundtrack. I love this song. One of those Timeless tracks that no matter what year it is and how long ago it was made, you will still dance to it.

Weak
Arguably one of the best slow jams in the 90's. If you ever met a person who made you feel the way the song describes it, you know what I mean. For me when this song came out, it was Ms. Podesta, a 2nd grade teacher where I went to elementary school. Every recess I saw her, and she just made me weak in the knees. To you Miss P.

You can't define greatness without mentioning SWV. In a decade that included so many great female R&B groups, they stand out as one of the best. Or maybe the best. That is why it will always be a subject for debate.

Part II: En Vogue

En Vogue. The Funky Divas. If I were to describe them, I would have to quote Jay-Z "Girls, Girls, Girls," with them being the "model chick that don't cook or clean, but she dress her ass off and her walk is mean. Only thing wrong is she always on the scene... God damn shes fine but she parties all the time." They're the gorgeous bunch that everyone wants, and every girl wants to be. Their soulful voices is just icing to the cake of this talented group.

My Lovin (Never Gonna Get It)
Probably their most popular song. Its one of those songs when played in the car or club, you're singing along to it. Its a timeless classic!

Free Your Mind
The model/runway concept of the video was phenomenal. It was one of those songs that just tells everyone that these ladies may dress sexy, but in no way they're whores. They are independent strong women who have some control of themselves and are powerful in their own sense.

Don't Let Go
Very popular song in the mid 90's after Set It Off with Queen Latifah came out. The song once again exemplified the kind of voices these girls had.

Too Gone Too Long
Very underrated track. They were in an episode of the Wayans Bros where they were singing this song acapella in their hotel room. It was crazy good.

Lies
Shows their range with a faster beat. They can do no wrong.

Giving Him Something He Can Feel
By far my favorite song of theirs. Plus their video was up there as one of the most sexiest in the 90's. At one point if you were a guy, you fantasized your woman doing this to you. Also, if you were a gal, you knew or at least pondered what it would be like to do this to your man. What a song and video!

En Vogue will always be timeless. If you also get a chance to check out their individual CD's, they are also worth listening. It just makes you wonder how great they are as a tandem. You can never forget the Funky Divas.

Ode To 90's R&B Female Groups... Part 1: Xscape

What is it about the 90's that I love so damn much? The music was definitely much more sound than now in my opinion. Specifically those female R&B groups. Each had their stamp not only in music history, but also in my heart. I felt each group had a factor that separated them from one another, but one thing we all know is that their music was equally phenomenal! My mood today had me thinking of these female groups and as a tribute, I'm gonna post some videos and just put my 2 cents about how fantastic they were and I know I'm reaching but if they ever had a reunion type concert where all get together, NCV will be the first in line to get some tickets. Remember, tonights blog is no countdown so they're in no particular order. Tonight its Xscape...

1. XSCAPE
This was a solid group! It made you understand their little "ghetto" selves in their music. You can't help but love being little badasses. For some reason, I feel that they remind me of a female version of Jodeci in the 90's. That little twist from the goody goody group that you can't help look at.

Who Can I Run To
A solid track on the Off The Hook album. I totally love that jazz club vibe on the video!

Just Kickin' It
Arguably their best song ever made. Such a laid back track with a little gangsta twist. You know if this song played in your car, you would be singing to it.

Do You Want To?
Arguably my favorite slow jam of theirs. It was also a perfect song for Tiny to completely put herself out there.

Understanding
The song that put these girls on the map. Such a simple message to a song. Sheer brilliance

Run To The Arms Of The One Who Loves You
This was one of those gems that never got the notoriety like all their other songs. The video to this day always gets me...

My Little Secret
Damn what a song! You know you grooved to this song at one point or another, no matter how naughty it was... Sneaky gals!

Keep On Keepin' On
Underrated track with MC Lyte. From the Sunset Park soundtrack.

That is just a snippet on the brilliance of Xscape. If you don't know them yet, well get introduced. There are so many more songs of theirs worthy to be put on here, but I just don't have the time. But they will always have a place our hearts. Hey were 90's cats. We're a little biased.

Booty Blog: NCV's Top Five

Ok. This blog has been days in the making. The only thing keeping us is that I've been sick and my partner has been busy. So for the sake of argument, we've devised a top 5 which will start many arguments, but after careful consideration, we thought they were up top. Our criteria involved: consistency, shape, "damn" factor, and popularity with a Nutcheck Video twist... that hidden "gem." So without further a due...

5. RITA G
You may remember her from Kanye West's "Flashing Lights" video. Well you know her name now because I know many of you were thinking... God damn whose ass is that in black and is about to beat Kanye with a shovel? Well this is her name, and don't you forget it.

4. NICOLE "COCO" AUSTIN
Yes Ice-T's wife. Something about her being white and having such a big ass. Her face is butter and botox looking but this is an ass competition. Something intriguing about her backside. Its like she's hiding a mystery under there. Who knows maybe its two midgets under her backside?

3. JENNIFER LOPEZ
Your timeless booty! She was introduced to us as one of the Fly Girls and made her name in Selena the movie in the 90's. Arguably the best butt in history. Latina bias by me (yes I admit) but everyone knows her ass. What you don't know about her rump is that it is actually 2 Christmas hams hiding under there. And it is enough to feed a small colonized NATION. Ahhhh woooo!

2. VIDA GUERRA
Most popular one at this time. Everyone knows who she is. Personally, I feel that her butterface loses the 1 slot for me, but her derriere is bangin' From magazine covers to music videos, she is everywhere! Right now if we were to play word association and I said but 99 out 100 times people would say "Vida"

1. KIM KARDASHIAN
An unconscious butt! One of those while you're watching TV and she comes on you're like "Damn!" Makes you feel dirty don't ya? Well don't feel bad. Every red blooded male, hell even female has seen her butt and had a dirty thought or two. If you haven't you're either gay or a hater. So shut it. Not as popular as J-Lo in the 90's, but a different type of popularity... One with a sextape. Oh those Kardashian sisters.

FrustrationBlog...

Many people who know me recognize that I am a passionate sports fan. From 49er football to Penguins hockey, I am a die hard. Some accept and understand it. Some think its weird. While some don't really grasp the concept of why I am such a huge fan. If you don't know yet, go to my Youtube videos and click the video "A Moment To Reflect," and you'd understand why I am such a huge fan. Obviously I am typing after another frustrating Penguins loss. But this loss (out of all that's occurred during the losing streak) takes the cake. They are beyond a slump. You cannot be up 3-0 to one of the worst teams in the league and lose. That's beyond unacceptable. Frustrating is to witness that, I am angry, upset and just want to hit something. What is it about losing that I can't accept? I remember during my CYO basketball days, I would cry when I lost. My folks would yell at me for doing so. But to me, competition is always been a part of my life. Even now, that I am injured and can no longer play, there are things in life that I still cannot accept, and losing is one of them. It may be a different playing field, but I hate losing. The concept of success is definitely a strong trait, but the harsh reality of me not accepting defeat can be a negative one (No wonder I'm still single LOL) to some.

So to completely change it up tonight, I'm actually gonna post videos reliving my worst defeats as a sports fan. Why, you may ask? Because I have to learn that losing is part of the game. And though most of the times, I can't accept it, I gotta find a way to deal with it. To put it in perspective, if you're a Kings fan, I would put up the Robert Horry shot. If you were a Cowboys fan, I would probably put up Tony Romo bobbling the ball on the extra point that would've tied the game. Or if you were a Red Sox fan, I probably put the Bucky Dent homer or the Aaron Boone one. So for the record, I am a die hard fan of the following teams: San Francisco 49ers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Bulls, Seattle Mariners, North Carolina Hoops, and Notre Dame football. I guess I can't get any more frustrated right? So might as well show them and share them with the world... Welcome to my world... As a fan. Please tell why I haven't had a coronary or developed ulcers with all this stress LOL? Each of them has a distinct story. Enjoy, well at least at my behalf.

Pittsburgh Penguins: I was a junior in high school (2000), my Pens were in the playoffs against hated Philadelphia. Mind you this was Game 4 (Game 1 I underwent my right ACL surgery, and my first words out of recovery was what channel was ESPN on the TV's). The Penguins won the first 2 games in Philly. Game 3 was won by Philly in Overtime. So the importance of Game 4 was HUGE! I had a huge chemistry exam plus an algebra 2 test the next day and promised to study after the game started at 4:30. So you figured, game wouldn't last more than 3 hours right? Wrong... 5 overtimes and almost six hours later it was still tied at 1, when this happened...

Needless to say, Philly gets momentum, win the series in 6 games, I did horrible on both tests and Keith Primeau can never be mentioned around me without me getting the heebie geebies and shaking my head.

Chicago Bulls: You know as a Bulls fan growing up, I got so used to winning during the Jordan years. Then crap just hit when he retired for the final time. I understood the 17 win seasons knowing that they were rebuilding, but this story takes the cake. 2005, the Bulls were back! With a young nucleus, they finally made the playoffs after a 7 year absence. Facing a Washington Wizards team that ironically enough had employed Michael Jordan a couple of years prior. The Bulls won the first 2 games decisively but Washington came back to win the next 2 at home. Faced with a best of 3 to decide the series, the venue returned to Chicago and all was dead for the Bulls. Down 20+ heading into the 4th. Then the comeback occurred. Chicago guard Jannero Pargo hits a miraculous 3 pointer to tie a what seemingly was a done game. But the Wizards had the ball and all I have to say is Gilbert Fuckin' Arenas.

San Francisco 49ers: Happened earlier this year. My house was packed. Monday Night Football. Vs. rival Arizona. The Niners had just gone through a huge losing streak. Then a new coach. So odds were against them already. But they played well. Opening kickoff for a score and a halftime lead. But Kurt Warner and the powerful Cardinal offense led them back. With a chance to put the game away, the Cardinals couldn't convert and was forced to punt. The Niners drove. And drive they did till they got to inside the 5. Then hysteria (Yes this is actual reaction to us thinking Frank Gore was not down by contact and crawled to the end zone)

Credit MJ Asarias with the video...

Needless to say, it was not a TD, but the Niners had another chance at victory...

SNUFFED at the 2.

Notre Dame Football: 05 vs. powerhouse USC. This was the end of their streak! Leinart and Bush going into Notre Dame Stadium. Facing touchdown Jesus. Their streak had to end right? It was a see-saw affair, a few minutes left, Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn gives the Irish a 31-28 lead...

But USC had a chance... And convert they did... Fuck first Bush and co beat Notre Dame, now he gets Kim Kardashian? Is the world one sided LOL?

Luckily enough I can't find specific baseball videos of my worst loss as a Mariners fan, nor any Tarheel highlights. So that will save me some grief... But why do I still watch? Cause for every 9 of those videos seen above you... One of the following arises...

Same game... 3 Overtimes Later...

...Always love it when its against the Knicks... Pre or post Jordan era. I love it.

You always know where you are when this happened. For the record I ran downstairs and hugged and picked my mom up in the air!!!

Ladies and gentlemen... That is why I keep watching...

Ode To Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air: Top 10 Most Memorable Moments

Shanezoola from NCV here to bring you another classic countdown. Today it is from a show that we all grew up in (if you were a 90's kid). You always remembered Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The theme song, the characters, the famous celebrities who made cameos, to the fine ass women who graced the show (Separate countdown for that in the future). Everyone remembers Will and the Banks family. So growing up watching this show religiously, here are our top 10 most memorable Fresh Prince moments

10. Break Out Lucille
In this episode, Will tries to win some easy money playing pool only to get shafted by a hustler and ends up owing him $300. So Will breaks it to Uncle Phil who then challenges the hustler to a contest, and turns the tables on him.

9. And I Am Telling You
Will and Hilary interview a dismissed juror that Uncle Phil kicked out and ended up humiliating Uncle Phil. The 2 apologize, but Uncle Phil was mad and finally fed up Will does a little song for his dear Uncle.

8. Therapy Session
Will and Lisa's marriage are on the rocks. So the two go to couple's counseling. Then hilarity ensues... BTW, underrated joke was Weezy describing Will's ears as "Looking like a car coming down the road with both doors open"

7. I Was Tryin' To Be On The Video
Bel Biv Devoe as well as a couple of other members of New Edition guest star and they make a video at the Banks residence while Uncle Phil and Aunt Viv are away.

6. Jump On It
Will and Carlton go to Vegas, only to be assed out on funds. So needing some money to get home, they enter a dance contest.

5. Here, Here, Here, Here, Here... Knock Yourself Out!
An earthquake leaves Will and his girlfriend stuck in the basement. She eats all of his breathmints and Will loses it, well everything else Tisha Campbell has on her body is lost too.

4. She's Your Baby Sister Man/East German Team
In this episode, Ashley starts high school with Will and Carlton. Its the famous scene where Ashley walks in sexily and Carlton says those famous words. Also its the famous scene where Carlton gets PWNED by a big ass German chick after they make fun of her.

3. Give Me The Gun Carlton... YOU OWE ME!
Will gets shot, so Carlton buys a gun for protection. Next is a powerful scene.

2. HILARY BANKS... WILL YOU MARRRRRRRRRRRY MEEEEEEEEEEE... Splat!
Wanting a huge proposal, Trevor proposes to Hilary by bungee jumping off a bridge, only to become one of the best lines in the show's history and a great Hot Stylz track!

1. How Come He Don't Want Me Man?
Will's dad is back and promises Will to take him on the road for the summer, only for him to back out cause of his selfishness. This fuckin' scene gets me everytime. Arguably the greatest 90's TV show scene of all-time. The acting was outta this world!

Wild Card Weekend: Top 5 Memorable Wild Card Moments

This being NFL Wild Card weekend. NCV takes you back to some of the most memorable moments in Wild Card history. These moments are still in a lot of our minds and we thought these moments would get you excited for the playoff games today and tomorrow. So here's the top 5...

5. 2006 Cowboys at Seahawks: The Cowboys just scored a touchdown in the final minutes of the game and just needed an extra point to tie the game and send it to OT, and then Tony Romo stamps his name in NFL history as the biggest goat of the game by bobbling the snap. I manage to find a fan video of the botched snap...

4. 2003 Seahawks at Packers: The game goes to OT tied at 27. Seattle QB Matt Hasslebeck on the coin toss makes a ballsy call... And what happens next is history.

3. 2000 Bills at Titans: Dubbed The Music City Miracle. The Buffalo Bills apparently kicked their way onto victory at hostile Tennessee. All they needed to do is secure the kickoff and they advance. The result? One of the most amazing endings in history.

2. 1998 Packers at 49ers: The Packers had beaten the Niners 3 straight times in the playoffs. Antonio Freeman had just scored to give the Packers a 27-23. Steve Young drove the Niners to inside the the Packer 30 yard line and all you hear is... OWENS OWENS OWENS!!!

1. 1992 Oilers at Bills: The Greatest Comeback in NFL History. Houston was penciled in the 2nd round. Up 35-3 against mighty Buffalo. No Jim Kelly. But sheer amazingness happened in the second half. Outscoring Houston 38-3 in the second half with Steve Christie booting one through the uprights for the win.

Nutcheck Videos Return Blog!!! We're Baaaaack!

Your favorite bloggers are back for the New Year. A fresh start. Some new ideas. Sorry we've been away for so long, but were motivated and ready to entertain you with these blogs. Were doing things a little different this time around. We will not have any themed blogs, but just sheer randomness. Being spontaneous is the key to entertainment. So whatever we're feeling on this day, we'll blog it for the people. It just gives you the people an idea of what the hell goes on in our heads. Weird as it may sound, or even scary for some. Today is a new year, but instead of focusing on New Year related stuff, I'm just being random.

So, the first is I recently found a website justin.tv where they show streaming videos online. They have a wrestling section where they sometimes show old school wrestling. Growing up on 80's and 90's wrestling allowed me to return to my childhood with this site. Ahh, back then when wrestling was predictable and simple. More technical with athleticism. My buddy Mark actually brought up a video where he asked me what my first "oh shit!" moment was in wrestling. "Oh shit!" means something during the WWF days that you thought was just utterly shocking... So in honor of my wingman Mark Doomz, here is my top 5 OH SHIT Moments during WWF in the 80's and 90's...

5. Hulk Hogan and the fireball: Mark actually pointed this out to me because for the longest time I never knew that they had something extra after Wrestlemania 7. After Hogan won the WWF title against Sgt Slaughter, Mean Gene Okerlund tried to interview him where he was met with a surprise...

4. Ultimate Warrior cursed by Papa Shango: All I thought was what the fuck was coming out of his head? I remembered as a 9 year old kid thinking man Warrior really got voodooed by Papa Shango. It may seem silly but as a kid it was shocking!!!

3. Jake The Snake gets blinded by the Model Rick Martel: This led up to the blindfold match at Wrestlemania 7. This was where it started. At the Brother Love Show.

2. Macho Man Randy Savage gets bitten by a Cobra: WTF!!! That was my reaction. I can't believe they showed this shit on camera at the time. I kept telling my mom that Macho Man was gonna die. LOL. I was so gullible as a kid.

1. The Rockers break up: I couldn't believe it. It was one of those memorable moments in wrestling where you remembered where you were. For the record I was in the Philippines, I was 9 and watched it on Wrestling Challenge. I knew they had beef leading up to that but I didn't realize what Shawn Michaels was about to do.

On the drive home today I was just listening to some Hi-Five... Which was one of my favorite R&B groups of the 90's. I feel that they were very underrated and was hidden in an era of Boyz II Men, Jodeci, Shai, All 4 One etc. So here's my top 5 favorite Hi-Five songs... RIP Tony Thompson.

5. I Can't Wait Another Minute: The remade version of this timeless classic is a favorite of mine. Also, if we were to do a countdown of the best sung remade songs, this would make the list...

4. Unconditional Love: What a track on the Menace II Society soundtrack. Such a beautfiul song.

3. I Like The Way (The Kissing Game): Everyone remembers them for this song. To this day when this song comes on, it is still a popular one on to boogie to.

2. Never Should've Let You Go: Actually this song was a forgotten one by me. A nutcheck when played at Nessa's house. I remembered this song too and totally forgot that it was Hi-Five who sung this. Great track! The chorus always gets me...

1. She's Playing Hard To Get: One of my favorite songs of the 90's. Such a simple yet so clever song.

Keep in tune with NCV cause you never know what we'll post... Happy New Year everyone from Shanezoola, MACTINO and Al-Boogie.
